COVID-19 Preparedness Plan for The Guided Hand Acupuncture
I am committed to providing a safe and healthy treatment space for all clients. The following Preparedness Plan has been created in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Following these requirements allows me to be open for in-person appointments.
This COVID-19 Preparedness Plan follows Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) guidelines, federal OSHA standards related to COVID-19 and Executive Order 20-48, and addresses:
• prompt identification and isolation of sick persons;
• hygiene and respiratory etiquette;
• engineering and administrative controls for social distancing;
• cleaning, disinfecting, decontamination and ventilation;
• management and supervision necessary to ensure effective implementation of the plan.
Identification of Sick Persons - Health Screening
I will be checking in with you the morning of your appointment to assess for Covid-19 risk. Please, do not come in for a treatment if you or a family member or housemate is exhibiting any signs of coming down with a cold or flu: cough, shortness of breath, muscle or body aches, fever, chills, fatigue, sore throat, headache, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea, or new loss of taste of smell. The Guided Hand Acupuncture’s 24 hour cancellation policy is waived for those who feel like they might be “coming down with something,” or are caring for sick children or partners.
I will be doing the same for you. If I have any symptoms that are questionable or if I have been exposed to anyone who is ill, I will reschedule our appointment.
Hygiene - Hand Washing
I will be washing my hands immediately prior to beginning our sessions. I ask that you wash your hands or use hand sanitizer prior to our session beginning as well. I will provide hand sanitizer in the treatment rooms.
Respiratory Etiquette - Wearing of Masks
I will be wearing a mask whenever I am in the treatment room. Clients will wear masks, except while receiving treatment face down. I do have options for those with mask issues.
Respiratory Etiquette: Cover your cough or sneeze
Please cover your mouth and nose with your sleeve or a tissue when coughing or sneezing. Dispose of tissues in provided trash receptacles and wash or sanitize your hands immediately afterward.
Engineering Controls - Physical Distancing
I am having clients wait in their cars until their appointment time to avoid people congregating in the waiting room. I will come and get you or call you when I am ready for you to come in. I have increased my treatment spaces to allow rooms to be cleaned and empty for a time between clients. I have added a well ventilated room upstairs reserved for my high-risk clients (immune compromised, those undergoing chemotherapy, elderly, or pregnant). Also, I have added a screened-in treatment space on my deck for those who would like that option (weather permitting). I am doing intakes via FaceTime or phone prior to your appointment to limit our face to face time together.
Cleaning, Disinfection, and Ventilation
I will be cleaning and disinfecting between each client. This will include changing of sheets and pillow cases, wiping down the treatment table and anything you or I have touched including bathroom handles, door knobs, railings, etc. Windows will be open in the upstairs room to promote good ventilation. I will run a HEPA air filter in the treatment rooms between clients.
